Woman charged after elderly man robbed

 Officers have charged a woman with robbery after an elderly man had cash stolen from him.

A woman is alleged to have tricked an 81-year-old man into letting her into his house before the cash was stolen and she fled the address in Bulwell on Sunday.

Police were called to Riseborough Walk, Bulwell, following the incident which is believed to have happened just before 1.40pm and immediately worked hard to establish the circumstances and conduct enquiries.

Joanne Duke, 44 of Wingbourne Walk, Bulwell, has been charged with robbery following  the incident. She appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (20 July 2021) and has been remanded in custody  to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 17 August.

Detective Sergeant Nick Wood, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take reports of burglary very seriously and will always thoroughly investigate where it is believed such an incident has taken place.

“Officers worked quickly to make an arrest and a woman has now been charged in relation to the incident.

“Our enquiries continue and I would ask for anyone who has any information on what happened to come forward.”
