Nottinghamshire Police’s unwavering resolve to crack down on knife crime has again been shown after officers quickly arrested three suspects and seized knives after responding to reports of two groups of men fighting with weapons.

Police were called to the disturbance in Wistow Close, Hyson Green, just after 3.40pm yesterday (Monday 13 September).

One man was reportedly pushed to the floor and assaulted before the groups dispersed.

Officers were swiftly on scene and searched the area. They arrested three suspects after a brief foot chase through gardens and recovered two knives from two of the men. No injuries were reported.

Detectives are continuing their enquiries to understand the circumstances and are appealing for the victim of the assault and any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Chris Berryman, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are working hard to get to the bottom of what happened. This appears to have been a targeted attack although no victim has been identified at this time.

“If you are the person who was assaulted please do not hesitate to get in touch. We want to make sure that you are safe.

“As our swift response to this violent disorder shows, we will always treat reports involving knives and violence with the utmost seriousness and do everything we can to keep people safe.

“We will not tolerate this kind of violence on our streets and I would like to reassure people we will always deal robustly with people who carry weapons on our streets.

“Our investigation is progressing, including trawling through CCTV, and we are also appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time who saw what happened to please get in contact with us.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have recorded CCTV, dash-cam or mobile footage of the incident to help us get a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding this incident.”

A 21-year-old man and 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a knife in a public place. Another 17-year-old boy is also in custody on suspicion of affray.
