A man will appear in court after police were called to a report of a street fight.

Officers were called to Mansfield Road, Redhill, shortly after 9pm on Saturday after witnesses reported a fight between a small group of men near the junction with Larkspur Avenue.

A suspect was arrested shortly afterwards when a car was pulled over in nearby Cross Street, Arnold.

Lee Tannahill, aged 44, has been charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, drink-driving, and possession of a bladed article in a public place

Tannahill, of Ashdale Road, Arnold, has been released on bail and will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 29 September.

Nobody was seriously hurt in the incident.

Sergeant Janine Barnes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We will always respond very quickly to reports of violence and take action to ensure people’s safety. Our investigation into this incident is ongoing.”
