A man is due in court after a suspected stolen exhaust pipe was recovered.

The item, believed to have been taken from a car overnight on 11 July, was located on Thursday afternoon after keen-eyed police officers spotted a suspicious looking van in Mansfield Woodhouse.

The vehicle was searched at around 4.30pm and the item recovered, along with a small quantity of cannabis and amphetamines.

Richard Place, of Middleton Road, Mansfield Woodhouse, has been charged with theft from motor vehicle, possession of cannabis and amphetamine, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving with no insurance.

The 43-year-old was bailed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 12 August.

PC Chantelle McDowall, of Nottinghamshire Police’s county knife crime team, said: “We take reports of vehicle related crime extremely seriously and work hard to ensure that all cases are fully investigated. I am pleased we have now brought a charge in this case and our investigations continue.”
