Officers attended an address in Graham Street, Radford, in the early hours of Tuesday morning (11 January) at around 4.50am and swiftly arrested a man at the scene.

Shanwaz Aziz, 43, of Graham Street, Radford has now been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court today (12 January) and was remanded in custody.

He is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 9 February 2022.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Emergency services were quick to attend the incident and officers were able to swiftly make an arrest.

“We have now charged a man in relation to this incident and would like to reassure the public we do not believe there is a wider risk posed to the community.
