National Police Air Service (NPAS)

Twenty-four hour air support to police forces in England and Wales is now provided by the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

NPAS is based in Bradford and is led nationally by West Yorkshire Police. It monitors and dispatches police aircraft from 21 bases around the country.

The former North Midlands Helicopter Support Unit base at Husbands Bosworth is one such base.

However, aircraft assisting at incidents in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire may originate from other NPAS bases in Leicestershire, West Midlands, South Yorkshire or further afield.

You can follow the helicopter's activity by following @NPAS_HusBos on Twitter.
