About our Assistant Chief Constable (ACC)
ACC Prior is responsible for Operational Policing and matters relating to crime and intelligence across the force area. This includes Serious and Organised Crime, Contact Management alongside Local Policing and Public Protection, as well as the implementation of areas under ‘Delivering the Future’ and the overall Force Performance. He also has responsibility for Citizens in Policing including volunteers, cadets and special constables as well working closely with staff associations and the various force support groups.
Stuart began his career in Leicestershire Police and has spent a significant part of his time in the police service as an investigator but has also performed various operational and neighbourhood roles at every rank. He became Head of Crime in Leicestershire in 2012, before moving into the role of Head of EMSOU in 2015.
Stuart has 31 years’ service and is still as enthusiastic as ever about policing and making communities safer, being a pleasant place to live and work. Having worked closely with Nottinghamshire whilst at EMSOU, he was delighted to be offered the opportunity to become Assistant Chief Constable in the force. He knows that during the period of time he spends with us, the force will continue to tackle the challenges both operationally and financially, whilst continuing to provide excellent service to the communities within Nottinghamshire.
He is an accredited firearms commander, public order commander, Senior investigating officer, kidnap investigator and manager of serious, covert & complex crimes.
Stuart is a family man and has a love for most sports, taking part in several as well as being a big sports viewing fan.
