Five people ran from the scene after a car collided with an unattended parked car.

The incident happened in Mayo Road, Sherwood Rise, at around 4.35pm today (Wednesday 4 October).

Police had earlier tried to stop the Vauxhall Corsa in Gunthorpe Drive, Sherwood, and followed the car for a short distance before the pursuit was called off for safety reasons.

A few minutes later the car collided with a parked Nissan Juke in Mayo Road and two males and three females ran from the vehicle.

Smoke was then seen coming from the Corsa but it was quickly put out by officers with extinguishers and members of the public with buckets of water.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading to it, particularly if they have dash-cam footage, is being urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 654 of 4 October 2017.

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
