Appeal after cyclist is assaulted before having bike stolen

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a cyclist was assaulted before having his bike stolen in Mansfield.

It happened on Church Street just before 11pm yesterday (Wednesday 9 August 2017).

A man, who was among a group of people, threw a glass bottle at the victim, causing a serious cut to his arm.

The injured cyclist returned to confront the group and got off his bike. At this point an unknown person got on the bike and rode off.

Officers took the cyclist to hospital. His injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.
