Police name man killed in crash on A1 at Newark

A man who died in a collision on the A1 at Newark on Thursday (9 March 2017) has been named as Ian Newell, from Grantham, Lincolnshire.
The 52-year-old, who was driving one of the vehicles involved, died in the collision on the northbound carriageway.
Mr Newell’s family has asked the media to respect their privacy at this difficult time.
The crash, which involved six vehicles, happened at about 7.55am.
Officers are continuing to investigate the collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed it or who has Dashcam footage to contact them on 101, quoting incident 137 of 9 March 2017.
A 38-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on police bail until 30 June 2017.
