Update: A1 at Newark closed after serious collision

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious collision on the A1 at Newark this morning (Thursday 9 March 2017).
It happened at about 7.55am on the northbound carriageway. Several vehicles were involved, including a lorry.
The A1 at Newark remains closed in both directions. Diversions are in place.
Inspector Simon Heads, head of the Regional Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "At the moment this is still a rescue operation and the fire service is working to extricate a casualty trapped in the wreckage.
"We’re appealing for any eye witnesses to the collision to get in contact with us.
"We’re keen to hear from anyone who was travelling on the A1 southbound at the time who happened to have a dash cam that captured the collision."
