Nottinghamshire Police would like to wish all football fans an enjoyable and safe time at the Nottingham Forest versus Derby County match on Sunday.

We will be there working with Nottingham Forest and Derby County Football Clubs to ensure spectators can watch the game in safety. Our officers will take swift and positive action against those intent on being disorderly to maintain a safe environment.

Our officers also employ a number of tactics to ensure people subject to banning orders do not attend.

Nottingham Forest Football Club has invested in new technology – a state-of-the-art camera which enables more effective coverage and the ability to identify supporters engaging in inappropriate behaviour in real time. This will allow stewards supported by officers to immediately eject anyone causing trouble from the ground.

Match Commander Superintendent Steve Cartwright said: "The local Derby match between Nottingham Forest and Derby Match is a fantastic sporting event.

"The sporting rivalry between the clubs is historic and whilst emotions run high it is not acceptable for behaviour to descend into hatred and disorder.

"My officers, staff and I will be working with the two clubs to ensure a safe and enjoyable day. I ask supporters from both clubs to work with us to ensure a successful day and demonstrate respect for each other and maintain the sporting rivalry in an appropriate manner."

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
