A 19-year-old man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon following a disturbance in the city centre.

Between 10-15 people wearing masks were reported to have been involved in a fight in and around the intu Victoria Centre car park at around 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 February).

A 17-year-old boy, who is believed to have been injured in the incident, later attended Queen's Medical Centre but has since been discharged.

Giovanni Campbell, of Stockwell in Bulwell, was arrested shortly after the incident and has now been charged. He is due before Nottingham Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning.

The charge comes as Nottinghamshire Police prepares to support Operation Sceptre, a national campaign on knife crime next week (12-18 February).

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
