A 31-year-old man has been jailed for three years and four months after officers found drugs, cash and a knife in his car while on patrol in Bestwood.

Cashel Walters, formerly of Arnold Road, provided a false name to officers after they pulled him over due to the poor mechanical condition of his car in February 2017. Officers were able to find out his real name after finding his driving licence when they searched his car.

Six wraps of crack cocaine, six wraps of heroin and a lock knife were also recovered during the search. Officers seized an amount of cash and his mobile phone, which later provided evidence of his street level dealing.

Walters was charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply heroin and possession of a knife. He was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court today (12 September 2018) after initially denying the offences but later changing his plea.  DC Chris Taylor said: “After analysing his phone we were able to build the case and interrupt another person from plaguing our streets with drugs.

“This was a long and tedious investigation as Walters refused to co-operate. However, this is a satisfying result and I hope it shows that we are absolutely committed to investigating those who facilitate the utter misery drugs can cause.”
