Officers were called to the Queen’s Medical Centre at around 3.30am yesterday (Saturday 10 March) to a report that a man had been admitted with a gunshot wound. The 25-year-old’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.

A cordon remains in place on the pavement in Huntingdon Street whilst officers carry out enquiries. A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released under investigation. Officers believe this is an isolated incident and do not believe there is any wider risk to the general public.

Detective Inspector Chanelle Whitney, who is leading the investigation, said: "We believe there may have been a number of people in the area at the time of the incident and would urge anyone who saw anything to please give us a call on call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 102 of 10 March."

101 is the number to call when you need to contact Nottinghamshire Police and it’s less urgent than a 999 call. Calls cost 15p, no matter how long the call lasts.
