Officers arrested two boys after a report of a moped being taken before being driven erratically around Eastwood, Giltbrook and Newthope.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with seven motoring offences in connection with the incident including taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop. He is due to appear at Nottingham Youth Court on 27 June. A 17-year-old boy has been released without charge.

The moped was reported to have been taken in Main Street, Eastwood, at around 12.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 June) and ridden around the area, including on the school field at Greasley Beauvale Primary School, before being abandoned in Coronation Park, Eastwood, where the rider and pillion passenger ran off.

The rider was detained by officers in nearby Plumptre Way, Eastwood, and the pillion passenger was tracked through gardens by police dogs before being arrested in Castle Street, Eastwood.
