Appeal after man suffers serious head injuries in Girton assault

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Girton, which left an 18-year-old man with a fractured skull and fractured eye socket.

The victim was in the area of the Girton Sailing Club, which is in Gainsborough Road, Girton, Newark, when he was attacked by a group of people.

It happened between 6pm on Sunday (5 August 2018) and 2am on Monday (6 August 2018)

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or who knows about a vehicle that was involved in a crash on the A1133 through Girton which happened earlier on Sunday. This car was later found parked at the scene of the assault.
